He is the best news ever.
We can all agree, the world isn't how it's supposed to be. Why is that?
The Bible explains that in the beginning God created the universe. He made the world and everything in it. And He created humans to represent Him on the earth. Everything was perfect. But it didn't stay that way...
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
Rather than trust that God, in His goodness, was the source of all they needed for a life full of peace, love, and joy, the first humans disobeyed God and followed their own way in an attempt to find the good life on their own terms. And with that decision, sin entered, maiming the perfect world God had created and leaving in its wake death, pain, and destruction. Sin has continued its reign of terror ever since. Now this is the broken world we all know, not just outside of us but in the very core of who we are. We all are born under sin's curse - each of us victims and perpetrators of its evil. And because sin always goes in the opposite way of God's goodness, it separates us from a life with God now and forever. Sin came at a cost and it can only be paid through death.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Thankfully, from the very beginning, God had a plan to rescue us. He would not leave us alone in the mess and the pain, stranded without hope because of sin. He would send a rescuer, One who is able to live a life of perfect trust in God, restore the human capacity to share life with God, and enable us to once more live as His representatives on Earth. Through this rescuer sin would be defeated - the power of death was overcome and eternal life given in its place.
He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus, God's own son, came to Earth and paid the cost of sin by dying on the Cross. With His death He satisfied sin's price, and when He came back to life three days later, He defeated sin's power. Sin was no match for Jesus' resurrected life, now He offers us this new life, too.
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift - not from works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
This invitation, this offer of new life instead of enslavement to sin and death, is free. Not earned by being good enough, smart enough, or deserving in any way, the offer can only be received by faith. There is nothing we can do on our own to be saved from sin. By trusting in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, our bondage to sin is broken and we are restored to God. We are eternally secure, having been saved by Jesus to share life with God now and forever.
You can receive new life today! Simply pray to God, who knows the depths of your hearts, and confess your need for salvation. To confess simply means agreeing with what God says is true. Because of sin there is no hope apart from Jesus, but because of His victory over sin and death, you can be set free.
